I’ve had my Cuisinart Toaster Oven for over 3 years and I love it. I use it for all sorts of things like oven fried chicken, baked pork chops, heating up left over pizza, cheese toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc. The chicken and pork chops are usually very tender. It’s great during the summer if you need an oven and don’t want to heat up your regular oven. The only negative I have found is the broiling pan has a very small lip that tends to hold water after you wash it and if you don’t drain it properly rust can form under the lip. My daughter and son-in-law wanted one for Christmas 2009 since I liked mine so well. Just last week they told me they love it and have used it many times already. It’s a hit in my family.

This countertop convection toaster oven broiler has changed my life! Namely, now I make roasted vegetables and other oven-needing items without making a big production of heating up my real oven (where I have a HearthKit 20-1/2-Inch Oven Insert that is wonderful but slows down preheating). And I roast or bake vegetables instead of microwaving.

I called Cuisinart to ask if we’re really supposed to keep it unplugged, and they said No, that’s just a precaution to make sure you don’t leave the oven *on*. So I keep mine plugged in. Also, some reviewers complain that the timer doesn’t turn the oven off when the time is up. But oven timers aren’t supposed to turn ovens off — think of them as alerts that it’s time to check and see whether your food is ready.

This thing preheats in about three minutes. It includes a brilliant “defrost” feature that defrosts frozen bread and *then* makes toast. It’s surprisingly spacious inside, and its door is a big glass window. It has insulated handles on the sides so you can move it at any time. I’m a fussy, critical person, and I love this appliance. Got it just over half price at a member-discount store.

Well, I’m going to have to disagree with those of you who have complained that this toaster doesn’t toast evenly and looks cheap. It’s not the highest-end look in the world and, yes, it does toast slightly more on one side than the other, but I’m refusing to downgrade it simply because one side is a shade darker than the other! I’m a graphic designer, so I know about tints. This one doesn’t bug me. And, yes, the blue lights are goofy – I’ll assume some engineer had too much time on her hands. Let’s see, um…unplug it!

As far as the material the toaster is made of – I like it, it’s not heavy like the last, cheap plastic one I had. Oh, by the way, stainless steel shows fingerprints. Big surprise, huh?!

My summary – buy the toaster if you like it – it toasts – that’s what it’s supposed to do. Oh, and the English Muffins come out just fine.
